Trainee Presentation Prize

Judged by an ISHA-selected panel, the 2012 Trainee Prize will be awarded to the orthopaedic trainee who delivers the best presentation. Finalists for the prize will be selected based on their abstract and invited to present during the scientific session. This prize, of one thousand US dollars, will be awarded at the 2012 ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting.

Abstract submissions and applications for the 2012 Trainee Presentation Prize are welcomed January 1-May 1, 2012.

Social Program

ISHA invites all meeting attendees and their guests to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while reuniting with colleagues and friends.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists, Specialty Physicians, Athletic Trainers, Physician Assistants, Rehabilitation Therapists, Residents, Fellows and Medical Students involved in the care of patients with hip issues.

Statement of Need/Program Overview

The ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting provides a unique international forum for attendees to share scientific information and learn the latest advances of arthroscopic surgery of the hip. This two and a half day meeting includes a variety of symposia and lectures. Additionally, hands on model lab, electronic posters and technical exhibits are offered.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
  • Describe the pertinent arthroscopic anatomy and physiology of the lower extremity, pelvis and hip joint
  • Identify standard portal placement for central and peripheral compartments
  • Define and implement hip arthroscopy techniques in their practice
  • Define the new technologies currently available for hip arthroscopic surgery, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of different surgical techniques
  • Define how to use the new technology in their practice and implement various methods of operative hip arthroscopy, including debridement, labral repair and correction of impingement

Accreditation Statement

This activity will be planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Medical Education Resources (MER), International Society for Hip Arthroplasty (ISHA) and MCJ Consulting. MER is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
